DEFINE MOTIVATION

"Motivation is defined as the process that initiates, guides, and maintains goal-oriented behaviors. Motivation is what causes you to act, whether it is getting a glass of water to reduce thirst or reading a book to gain knowledge."

Below you can see the definition of motivation by different authors: -

“Motivation is defined as the performance of an activity because it is perceived to be instrumental in achieving valued outcomes” (Teo, Lim, & Lai, 1999).

“Motivation is defined as the power that triggers action that follows” (Cheng, & Cheng, 2012).

Furthermore, “Motivation can be defined as everything that drives and sustains human behavior” (Gard, 2001).
“Motivation may be defined as the degree to which individuals commit effort to achieve goals that they perceive as being meaningful and worthwhile”
"Motivation can be defined as the desire to achieve some” goal (Hays, & Hill, 2001).

Additionally,

“Motivation is generally viewed as a process through which an individual’s needs and desires are set in motion” (Rakes, & Dunn, 2010).

“Motivation is the process whereby goaldirected activity is instigated and sustained” (Pintrich, & Schunk, 1996).

“Motivation is defined as the inner urge that moves or prompts” (Resnick, 2007).

In furtherance, “Motivation is self-focused” (Bowman, 2007).

Also, “Motivation is what moves us to act” (McDonough, 2007).

“Motivation is generally more internally or more extrinsically oriented” (Mata, Silva, Vieira, Carraça, Andrade, Coutinho, et al, 2009).

“Motivation is the ‘want-to’ component of individuals’ actions” (King, & Teo, 2012)

In continuation, “Motivation is an inner drive” (Locke & Baum, 2006).

“Motivation is level of effort” (Pew, 2007).

“Motivation is dependent on 3 psychological processes: arousal, direction and intensity” (Curral, L., & Marques-Quinteiro, 2009).

my beautiful definition is this

“Motivation is generally considered to be an internal state that initiates and maintains goal directed behavior” (Mayer, 2011).

(sh story no :- 02) Donkey In The Well.

O nce upon a time, there was a little donkey that lived on a ranch. The little donkey spent all of his time in a pen with his grandfather. One day, the little donkey said, “Grandpa, I want to grow up to be big and strong like you. What do I have to do?” Grandpa said, “All you have to do is learn how to shake it off and step up.” That confused the little donkey so he asked his grandfather what that meant. Grandpa said, “Let me tell you a classic short motivational story! One day, when I was just about your age, I was right here in this pen when someone left the gate open by mistake. Well, I escaped and started walking out on the prairie. I was admiring the big mountains and the huge sky. Then, all of a sudden, when I wasn’t looking at where I was going, I fell into an old, abandoned well. I was trapped at the bottom of the well, scared to death, thinking I was going to die. I was the donkey in the well. Then, within a few minutes, I heard a truck and looked up and sa...

(Short Story:- 01) A Story About Anger !

T here once was a little boy who had a bad temper. His Father gave him a bag of nails and told him that every time he lost his temper, he must hammer a nail into the back of the fence. The first day the boy had driven 37 nails into the fence. Over the next few weeks, as he learned to control his anger, the number of nails hammered daily gradually dwindled down. He discovered it was easier to hold his temper than to drive those nails into the fence. Finally the day came when the boy didn’t lose his temper at all. He told his father about it and the father suggested that the boy now pull out one nail for each day that he was able to hold his temper. The days passed and the young boy was finally able to tell his father that all the nails were gone. The father took his son by the hand and led him to the fence. He said, ‘You’ve done well, my son, but look at the holes in the fence. The fence will never be the same. When you say things in anger, they leave a s...
